If you have seen my blog in the past, then you might have realized that there has been a massive overhaul to the design of the UI and theme. There are a lot of reasons that built up to this massive change.
The first reason for this is that I have a different perspective now on what a good webpage looks like to me. Before I just wanted a simple place to put out there that might feel quaint and custom-built by me. I like the idea of people having their own space on the web instead of being goverened by the restrictions you are forced into when you use social media. A Twitter page has much less personality than a website you made, and itn't even a place that you can call your own and feel at home.
I enjoy spending time looking through people's personal pages like mine. As I've done so, I've liked the feel of certain pages and wanted to take some of what I learned and put it into a new layout.
I also made a new colorscheme for my terminal that I call Earthenware. It's my first color scheme and I wanted to use it to color my website as well.
Also, I changed this website because I haven't been using it nearly as much as I would like. I would often think of something to write up and put on my website, but it felt like a massive pain. The pipeline I had set up for making a post, generating it, and pushing it up to the webserver was so tedious that I never even started writing.
Now recently at work I have been using more markdown for documentation and I found that I really like writing with it. I have gotten used to formatting my documents using markdown and thought that it would be easy if I could just open a text file and start typing out a blog post in markdown without thinking about it, and then have the pipeline automatically buil/generate the webpage and upload it with another script.
That was the last thing that I had trouble with - uploading. Uploading felt like a pain because I had to manually log in on a web portal, upload a tar file, extract it, and thenit would deploy. Now I have set up a way to use a script to automatically copy the files to the webserver and overwrite them. Now it is SO MUCH EASIER!
So, expect to hear more from me on this site now that I have made it easier for myself to use and much more visually appealing!
